Anna Lindh Foundation
For dialogue between cultures
The Anna Lindh Foundation for dialogue between cultures, is the first institution created in 2005 in the framework of the Euro-Mediterranean cooperation for the promotion of cultural and social exchanges among the people of the region. With members from 42 countries, the Foundation is the largest and most diverse network of civil society organisations.
The Foundation coordinates the flagship programme “Young Mediterranean Voices” (YMV) that uses youth-led debate to develop critical cognitive skills and challenge negative mutual perceptions, described as “one of the most successful examples of a skills transfer and training initiative that is continuing to expand” (Chatham House “Moving Youth Policy from Debate into Action”). The programme provides a pioneering platform to open doors for young influencers to shape policy and media narratives.
The Anna Lindh Foundation promotes mutual respect and in-depth knowledge among the societies of the Euro-Mediterranean region, by bringing people together to work on common projects in the fields of education, media, culture and youth participation. The Foundation focuses its intercultural action around three main pillars: Empowering young voices; Influencing policymakers; Building a movement for dialogue and exchange in the face of growing mistrust and polarisation amongst societies.
The Foundation is supporting the projects/Summit of the Two Shores in three main ways : Platforms and Networks; Research and Monitoring. More particularly, the Foundation will continue its work on advocating for the projects of the Summit of the Two Shore. The Foundation has its network of national networks active in all the 5+5 countries which provides a platform to take forward the Summit.
Beyond the platforms, we also have the forthcoming cycle of our intercultural research, based on public opinion polling on values and social change in the Mediterranean co-designed with Gallup and Ipsos-Mori. This unique social research can also contribute to monitoring the socio-cultural evolutions in the 5+5 countries that the Summit of the Two Shores aims to impact on. Finally, the Anna Lindh Foundation will continue championing/supporting the projects from the 5+5 countries that are related to its mandate, including :
- Erasmus des Associations
- Théâtres Antiques
- Plateforme numérique pour les jeunes
